The idea for a Charity Trial came about because Mick Brown worked at the Leonard Cheshire Seven Rivers Home in Great Bromley & the Eastern Fourstroke Association was always looking for ways of raising funds. Then in 2002 Ian Preedy and Mick Brown looked at the grounds & thought they could 'invent' 10 sections. Thereby the first EFA Charity Trial was born and in that inaugural first year £305 was raised without any sponsorship, the next year, with section sponsorship, the club raised £1800.

To date the EFA have raised in the region of £19,000 and for 2013 we would like to make it £20,000. So please support us in our endeavour to reach this target.

The money has been spent on premises upkeep, like the redecoration of the dining room, special projects like the patio revamp, a new gas barbecue, a fixed wind-up awning and a strengthened & redesigned wheelchair for John, an ex-motorcyclist resident. Last year the clubs donation was spent on a residents tuck-shop in reception & this year's project is the rebuilding of the summerhouse, which the club have used as the Trial HQ in the past.

Highlights of previous trials have been the Belly-dancers and in 2008 Mick Brown organised a fitting highlight, a fantastic flypast of a Spitfire and Mustang which skimmed the trees, roof tops and near by church tower.

Leonard Cheshire Charity Trial Results, 20/05/12

Micks final stint at organising the Leonard Cheshire Charity trial pulled in some favours weather wise to get us to Bromley Brook but it was worth it in the end with plenty of smiling faces and lets hope plenty of generous donations to a worthy cause. Thanks again to all those who gave up their time setting out the course, observing the sections, to the land owner for repairing the track and to Gary and Tracey for doing the Secretary of the Meeting duties.  - Results here.
